Abby & Ellie have a playroom!

We made the spare bedroom into a playroom this past weekend. I wish we had done this weeks ago. It only took a couple of hours, and I am so glad we did it.

The girls really love having a playroom, and although we no longer have a spare room, we have reclaimed our living room. All of their toys fit nicely in the play room, and they now pretty much have the run of our lower floor of the house. It's nice to have a few different rooms for them to play in safely.
The girls seem to be doing something new every day. Here are some of Abby & Ellie's favorite things to do:

- Read books. Both Abby & Ellie will hand you a book and expect you to read to them. Usually, they will each climb on a knee and listen to the book.

- Babble. They are constantly babbling to each other. I am always wondering what they are saying.

- Watch Baby Einstein. I know it is probably not good for them to watch TV, but sometimes it's the only thing that calms them down. All you have to do is say, "Is it Baby Einstein time?". If they are in the living room, they turn toward the TV. If they are in another room, they will walk into the living room. Ellie likes to dance to the music, and her favorite song is Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes. I was changing her diaper the other day when it came on and when she heard the song, she started wiggling to get off the table so she could go watch her song on the TV.

- Play outside. When the weather is nice, it is fun to let them run around on the deck and splash around in their pool and on their water table. They seem to have a fear of grass, so we have been trying to get them to play in the back yard. We're also trying to get them used to the feeling of sand. They have a sandbox on the patio, but don't like playing with the sand.

The weekend wrapped up with a swim in our friends' pool. They have lived there for 9 years and this was the first time I have been in their pool. Abby & Ellie have never been in a big pool. We tried to bring them in the ocean when we were on our cruise. They only lasted a couple minutes and were not into the water at all. It was a different story this time around. Christie and I each took one of them, and we walked them around in the shallow end. Once they realized we were not going to let go of them, they started having fun and giggling. We put them in their floats, and pulled them around. They were having a blast!

Here is a picture of Abby hanging out with her friend Aidan.
